About intell-write

intell-write is a writing tool that puts AI where writing actually happens — inside a structured, block-based editor — rather than in a separate chat window.

The idea

Open-ended AI assistants are powerful but demanding: you describe what you want, paste the result back into your document, and repeat. That loop pulls you out of your own text and turns writing into prompting.

intell-write takes a different route. Common operations — expanding a point, condensing a paragraph, simplifying dense prose, correcting, translating — become functions you apply to a block. The AI acts in place, and every change is shown as a diff you accept or reject. Nothing is altered without your say-so.

The approach

Deliberately, the tool constrains what the AI can do. That restraint — trading raw flexibility for a focused set of well-designed actions — is what makes it fast to use and its output easy to control. The concept of functional flexibility that guides this design is drawn from research on AI-assisted writing (arXiv:2410.10644).

Your data

You bring your own AI provider key, which is encrypted at rest. Your documents are yours: you can export them, and you can delete your account and all its data at any time. See the privacy policy for details.
